STILL SIMPLE
Still Simple:
Product branding photography is the art of photographing a single product or a group of two or three products in their simplest form. It may seem simple to photograph a single product, but in reality, it requires a complex set of lighting skills.
I have worked under some of the greatest product photographers of the 1980s and 1990s in New York City and Chicago. I have learned how to photograph products in a way that does more than simply show the product. My photos sell the idea of the product, making viewers want to learn more and possibly even purchase it.
It’s not just about blasting the product with light. It’s about using a variety of tools, such as gobos, cards, screens, and scrims, to manipulate the light and shadow falling on the product. This enhances the product’s ordinary appearance and gives it a feeling of being special.
The sharpness of the light, the highlights, and the shadows are all very specific and precise. When product branding photography is lit correctly, the light, colors, and shape of the product draw the eye and make viewers want to learn more.
Not everyone is attracted to the same colors, textures, type styles, or prices. However, one thing that everyone is attracted to is a feeling. The feeling that a product is special and that they need to have it.
As a commercial photographer, I want my clients’ viewers to look at my photos for more than just a few seconds. I want them to be drawn in by the product and to feel the urge to learn more or even make a purchase.
I have the skills to make even an ordinary item or product look extraordinary. My photos are simple, yet professional. They sell the idea of the product and make viewers want to take a closer look.
